Girls Guide to Mykonos, Greece
Traveling to Greece has been on my bucket list for years now! Mykonos felt like it was straight off of my Pinterest board. October is low season so it was definitely very slow here at this time of the year and a bit cooler than I would have preferred. Mykonos is known for its night life so if you are looking for partying I would definitely go in the summer not in the fall. It was still great for our content/ work trip and we had a lovely time! Here’s my Girls Guide of where to stay, shop, eat on the lovely island of Mykonos, Greece!
Where to stay:
Panormos Village hotel is a family-owned hotel located along the north shore of Mykonos. The hotel was right on the beach with breathtaking views and a gorgeous pool with cabana beds. This property has 30 unique rooms, from perfect family style rooms with bunk beds for the kids to amazing honey moon suites for you and your mans, or for me and McKenzie.. lol.
During our stay we had the pleasure of staying in 2 rooms. Our first room was amazing, it was on the higher floor with panoramic views of the Aegean sea and a private pool.
We were lucky enough to get an upgrade from the hotel and our second room was even better than the first. The second room was the Junior Suite with a private pool as well and an indoor jacuzzi. This room had me pinching myself! Definitely the best hotel collaboration I have ever had and close to the top of my list of best hotels I have ever stayed in.
The restaurant at Panormos Village was our second most visited spot of the trip, after our hotel rooms. We had the luxury of enjoying daily breakfast at our hotel and it was amazing each and every day. The hotel normally has an American Buffet Breakfast but because it was a slow week we actually got to fill out sheets of what we wanted and they made it fresh for us on the spot! I got a veggie omelette, cappuccino, croissants and the best freshly squeezed orange juice every morning.
There’s so many things I loved about Panormos Village Hotel but I will say it being on the beach was a highlight! We played mermaids in the morning and the ocean felt so nice after a few weeks of cold in Paris. The hotel provided cutie blue- grey towels with fringe details and tote bags to bring down to the beach!
What to do in Mykonos:
My favorite part of Mykonos was Little Venice. I personally would love to someday have a home with a large deck and all white chairs on the ocean just like this. There was multiple restaurants on this small Pinterest board strip. My favorite spot for photos was Mykonos by Gryparis and for drinks it was Veranda. We had to taxi here from our hotel each day which was $25 or $30 each way. A bit pricy for a 15 minute drive into town but it was the place to be for sure. This is the liveliest spot in Mykonos and if I did not sell you on Panoromos Village Hotel I would recommend getting an Airbnb in Little Venice to really immerse yourself in Mykonos.
Shopping in Mykonos- Shopping is one of my favorite things to do in general but when traveling it’s a high that I cannot describe. Someday I dream of selling clothes and accessories at my very own boutique with pieces from all over the world. Whenever I am traveling and I meet a boutique owner I am enthralled with hearing all about their story of opening their boutique. I love supporting small businesses and local designers. As a tourist to a new country I think it’s always a MUST to allow yourself to buy one big purchase that excites you! For me this trip it was a $110 dress that I know I didn’t need but it made me beyond happy. It was a linen dress designed by a local Mykonos designer and I even convinced my bestie to buy a matching one. The store that we purchased them at wasMykonos Path and the designer is Eveleya official.
Where to eat: Normally dining out is one of my favorite hobbies when traveling but we really didn’t do that much of it here. We had the luxury of a large breakfast daily at our hotel so we weren’t hungry until dinner time. We went out to dinner in Little Venice, got pita take out there another night, and ate dinner at our hotel one night. I would highly recommend going to Pepper in Little Venice for authentic greek food and an amazing vibe. I got the farmers market greek salad and hummus, both a 10/10. McKenzie got the chicken gyro and she said it was the best she had in Mykonos! It was also a very affordable option and the service was great.
Go to the Old Port: The Old Port marina is a beautiful spot in Mykonos with ocean front restaurants, shops, and beautiful views. I would come here for dinner and the sunset! There was also a man playing live music right on the water, it was amazing. This destination is a short walk away from Little Venice to note, so it will be the same drop off when taking a Taxi from the hotel or from the outskirts of the main town.
Go on a boat: As I was looking for things for us to do I saw the option for a sunset cruise in Mykonos which I would have absolutely loved but the winds were too strong during the days we were there. This is also why we didn’t venture out to different islands like Santorini. Next time I am in Greece I definitely will be going to Santorini! Overall Mykonos is a picturesque place where your Pinterest dreams come to life. It’s definitely a great check off of my bucket list but it’s a hard destination to get to from America. If you are looking for a more seamless vacation destination check out my Girls Guide to Tulum or Cabo, Mexico both incredible tropical destinations like Mykonos but closer to America!
