Girls Guide to New York City

New York City will forever have a piece of my heart! I will never say no to a trip to NYC! My absolute favorite about NYC: Central Park, flower shops on nearly every corner, taxis driving by at all hours, and the endless amount of shopping!

I’ve been to NYC many time and even lived there. When I was younger, I would come into the city and only go to the Upper East Side and Midtown. I absolutely loved it and there is so much to do and see her. Most of NYC’s tourist attractions are here including the Empire State Building, Central Park, Bryant Park, and Times Square. When I moved to NYC in my early 20s I found that there is a complete other world below midtown in lower Manhattan. A world I completely fell in love with. East Village, West Village (Greenwich), SoHo, Lower East Side (LES) Financial District (FiDi), TriBeCa, Little Italy and China Town make up “Lower Manhattan.” This area is also known to hold a younger crowd than Upper Manhattan.

I’m going to separate this blog post by my favorite areas in New York City and where you must go to eat and shop + what to see while you’re in these areas!

West Village:

Washington Square Park: Have you ever been to Paris? If your answer is Yes then you'‘ll be suprised to see this mini Arc De Triomphe in NYC! I love Washington Square Park to people watch, listen to live music and read.

Where to eat and drink:

Extra Virgin: Across from Carrie Bradshaw’s apartment in Sex and the city lives this gem! An experience in itself but this residential quieter part of the city has my heart. Get a cosmopolitan and channel your inner Carrie Bradshaw.

Dante: Come here for the best martinis in the city! They also have an amazing happy hour.

Mermaid Oyster Bar: Fabulous spot for oysters in the city

Where to shop: I will say almost every neighborhood in NYC has amazing shopping but my personal favorite places to shop in the city are West Village + Soho. My favorite place to shop in the city is West Village: Wyld Blue Store +LoveShackFancy.

My second favorite part of NYC is SoHo. The pastel color buildings, the unique boutiques, the beautiful bakery’s, the designer stores and especially the cobblestones. I think I would say this is the most European feeling of a place in the city. Here’s my favorite restaurants below to check out here after you’ve took the time to explore SoHo:

Laduree: Once only seen in France, Laduree is an amazing spot for macaroons, coffee and a fabulous place for breakfast.

Jacks Wife Freda: my go to brunch spot in SoHo.

Pietro Nolita: All pink Italian restaurant! A forever favorite for me and an iconic instagrammable spot in the heart of SoHo. Come here for an amazing dinner experience!

Where to go for coffee in SoHo: Maman + for match Chachamatcha

Meatpacking district is one of the most glamorous places to go out in Manhattan. Start your night with a chic seafood dinner at Mollusca indulge in my personal fav, the branzino ceviche. If you’re headed here another fun spot for the night is Common Ground bar. Not a typical recommendation for my blog but a good place to go out if your in your 20s to meet people!

Where to Stay: Langham NYC is an amazing 5 star hotel located on 5th Avenue. 5th Avenue is another hot spot for shopping, and brings in a lot of tourists. The hotel is also a short walk to beautiful Bryant Park, with stunning views of the Empire State Building. It’s also not too far away from another one of my favorite places in NYC Central Park.

Central Park: You have to spend time in Central Park when you’re in NYC! There used to be a restaurant called Loeb Boathouse here but it is temporary closed, it was amazing. Go on a row boat in Central Park! I haven’t down it yet, but it’s on my bucket list.

There’s so much to do in NYC! It’s an amazing place that makes you feel electric. Although my recommendations are my favorite I would say you will always have a good time wherever you go!
